Moving Mountains: Lighting up Africa’s last mile

We have seen some very exciting progress in the off-grid energy access sector in Africa over the past 13 years and are proud to have supported over 300 engagements in the sector, across 27 countries in Africa. But based on recent research we co-authored with Lighting Global/ESMAP, GOGLA, and Efficiency for Access, there are still nearly 800 million people who live without electricity, and 75%+ in Africa. 

In a recent piece, Open Capital‘s Energy Access sector leads, Duda Slawek and Andreas Zeller, share our learnings on what is still needed to reach the hardest to serve across Africa.
