Our vision
Agriculture and food systems could be the engine of the continent’s inclusive economic growth, and key to sustainable food security. More than half of Sub-Saharan Africa’s labor force remains employed in agriculture, however, yields are low, value chains fragmented, there’s limited value addition, climate change is introducing new, unprecedented challenges, and the sector faces a significant gap in access to finance, among other.
Over more than a decade, Open Capital has worked on 400+ agriculture and food systems projects in Africa, partnering with development organizations, foundations, businesses, investors, governments, and, of course, farmers themselves. Our deep experience in the sector allows us to bring thought leadership and realism to market systems development programs, and actionable recommendations to our business clients.
