New report on supporting early-stage businesses

In December of 2012, Open Capital facilitated a three day workshop in Nairobi hosted by USAID, ANDE, Rockefeller, CARE and the Acumen Fund. The workshop brought together senior leadership from more than 40 global organizations focused on enterprise development and investing in East Africa. We focused on early-stage social enterprises and followed a ‘design-thinking’ approach to identify high-potential, high-leverage

initiatives to support these enterprises throughout their development stages to achieve scale and build sustainability. After three intensive days, we identified three high-impact initiatives that we believe will catalyze additional investment and
provide critical support to the early-stage eco-system with the potential to improve the lives of millions living at the base of the pyramid across East Africa.
