OCA’s research on the Kenyan healthcare sector, “The Next 33 Million: How the private sector is reforming Kenya’s health system” was cited by Bloomberg earlier this year.

In an article entitled “GE’s Immelt Urges More Private Investment in Africa Health Care”, the publication discussed General Electric CEO Jeff Immelt’s recent visit to Nairobi to launch a USD 10 million project with Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

Bloomberg cited OCA’s research as proof of the rapid growth in private sector healthcare solutions in Kenya. As Bloomberg referenced, the Kenyan’s government’s share of total health-care spending dropped 45% between 2000 and 2010, with the private sector making up a large share of the difference.
